Not a very good take, since conscripts are still needed to protect the country from other directions, including the border regions with Ukraine. You can't just expose all other borders and directions, or not to plan for a secondary conflict. So no, they are not useless.
As a volunteer Veteran myself, during a time when my Government had introduced Conscription, I find this report "if" true, truly bizare. Sure, I was 17 when I volunteered, and at that age, was forbidden to go over seas and fight. But the minute I turned 18 I was on the next plane to the war zone. I was an Infantry soldier, and it took 6-8 months to train and prepare us for that war. Given my personal experiences, I cannot understand the weird thinking of Putin in this regard.
I believe it is a fake war, meant only to impoverish and weaken the US.
How can you explain the following?
[1] Important leaders, like the UK PMs, visiting Kiev. Which political leader will ever fly to a real war zone?
[2] As far as I know, there has never been an attack on the office/residence of Mr. Zelenskiy. How can such "sparing" happen in a real war?
Overall, in this "protracted war," US is made to send more and more funds and the electronic signatures of her various advanced weapons are getting revealed to the supposedly warring parties.
Although I have no proof but I have heard that a lot of US assistance is showing up on black market and funds are being laundered.
There is a reason Russia calls it an SMO, not a war.
I am open to any and all correction regarding what is stated above.
